History
The Swedish Hoya Society was founded in 1994 on initiative
of
Eva-Karin Wiberg who was the chairman until 2003 when Torill
Nyhuus became the chairman.
From 2009 Torill Nyhuus is our chairman.
The number of members has increased and today we count
more than
800
members
and now our society is the biggest
in the world.
You find our members all over Scandinavia. We want to learn more
about the genus Hoya and to share that knowledge.
Our aim
We aim to spread the knowledge of the genus Hoya in
particular, but also other
genera
in the
subfamily
Asclepiadoideae
of family Apocynaceae (formerly family Asclepiadaceae),
and to promote cultivation of
them.
Membership
From January 2012, we have two different kinds of membership. One,
which is the standard one, where you get our quarterly published
bulletin in Swedish. The fee for members outside Sweden is 260
SEK. The other kind of membership gives you a translated version
of the Swedish bulletin, completely in English. This membership
costs 320 SEK. If you want to join us, contact the treasurer for
further information. Fees paid after 15 November are assumed to
count for the coming year, unless something else is stated. Our annual meeting is held in March/April at
the
big anual flower show
in
Stockholm. More information about this and other member meetings
you can find at “Events”.
We hope to see you as a member in
our society. |
