History
The Swedish Hoya Society was founded in 1994 on initiative
of
Eva-Karin Wiberg who was the chairman until 2003 when Torill
Nyhuus became the chairman.
From 2005 Hedvig Bolmgren is our chairman.
The number of members has increased and today we count
more than
800
members
and now our society is the biggest
in the world.
You find our members all over Scandinavia. We want to learn more
about the genus Hoya and to share that knowledge.
Our aim
We aim to spread the knowledge of the genus Hoya in
particular, but also other
genera
in the
subfamily
Asclepiadoideae
of family Apocynaceae (formerly family Asclepiadaceae),
and to promote cultivation of
them.
Membership
The membership runs for a year. As a member you get our bulletin
which is published quarterly (available in Swedish only). The fee
is 260
SEK for membership outside Sweden (180
SEK
within
Sweden). If you want to
join us,
contact
the
treasurer
for further information. Fees paid
after 15 November are assumed to count for the coming year, unless
something else is stated.
Our annual meeting is held in March/April at
the
big anual flower show
in
Stockholm. More information about this and other member meetings
you can find at “Events”.
Please note that our bulletin is in
Swedish only.
We hope to see you as a member in
our society. |
